You have tried to think positive. You have tried to push the anxious thoughts away, argue with them, distract yourself from them, outrun them. And they keep coming back, sometimes louder for having been ignored.
What if the goal was never to get rid of the hard feelings?
What is ACT?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, known as ACT, takes a different approach than trying to fix or silence what you feel. It teaches you how to make room for difficult thoughts and emotions without letting them run your life. Not because pain is good, but because the fight against it costs you so much. All that energy spent managing your inner world is energy not spent living the life in front of you.
In this work, we do two things at once. We help you unhook from the thoughts that keep you small, the ones that tell you that you are not enough or that you cannot cope. And we get clear on what actually matters to you. Your values. The kind of mother, partner, friend, and person you want to be. Then we help you take real steps in that direction, even while the anxiety is still in the car with you.
This is not about feeling good all the time. It is about being able to hold the hard stuff and still move toward a life that feels like yours. You can be scared and brave at once. You can carry the worry and still show up.
When we work together, we keep things practical and real. We notice the thoughts that hook you, we practice unhooking from them, and we get specific about the small, doable steps that move you toward the life you actually want. This is not abstract. It is about your Tuesday, your relationships, your real days. Sessions happen online, wherever you feel most at ease, and I work with clients throughout Ontario. If you have benefits, therapy with a Registered Social Worker is often covered, and I direct bill to Telus eHealth and Sun Life.
If you are exhausted from the war inside your own head, there is a gentler and more workable way to live. If any of this feels like you, you are welcome to book a free consultation. No pressure to commit to anything today.
